Micky van de Ven Brace Ends The Toffees' Unbeaten Streak at New Home Ground

The Tottenham defender found the net twice as Tottenham extended their winning streak on the road in the Premier League and delivered the Toffees their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton were unbeaten in their five previous fixtures at their recently opened stadium at the dockside location, having departed their historic home behind after more than a century at the end of the previous campaign.

The Portuguese striker, meanwhile, failed to convert a handful of chances, while the Italian goalkeeper made a succession of excellent saves to ensure the London club went five matches on the road unbeaten in the English top flight.

But the VAR stepped in, instructing the match official to check the score on the screen and the official ruled that the winger and the attacker were in offside positions and had impeded with the Spurs keeper.

This victory elevates the manager's side into third place in the division, a handful of points off local foes and table-toppers the Gunners.

The Merseyside club stay 14th and are half a dozen points clear of the drop zone.

Tottenham analysis: The defender excels in duties at each end of the field

Following a uninspiring midweek display in the European competition against the French side, where they mustered a mere attempts on target, Frank opted for the French striker up front instead of ex-Everton forward the Brazilian.

The summer signing was unable to influence the game before being substituted for the substitute after an hour on the pitch, but it emerged he proved unnecessary in the end.

Defender the Dutchman transformed into an offensive threat to be feared.

Spurs' first goal came from a cleverly executed set-piece play, with Rodrigo Bentancur heading the ball toward the six-yard box for an free Van de Ven to score.

Everton's new home had been a happy hunting ground, but it appears the novelty may have faded slightly and supporters headed to the gates after the midfielder's third for Spurs.

The break in the team's winning streak at home won't be a massive worry for the manager, but their attacking woes are.

The forward and Thierno Barry - the Toffees' pair of established centre-forwards - had netted just a single goal combined before Sunday's outing.

And they were unable to contribute to that poor tally on a damp and dreary night on in Liverpool.

The striker's performance was epitomized when he chose to overhead kick a clear chance from close range, despite having space and opportunity to reposition for a simpler shot that would have challenged Vicario.

Barry, too, failed to make an impact after coming on for Beto in the second half.

It wasn't for a lack of opportunity. Most of Everton's offensive moves came through the winger and the forward, who tirelessly delivered dangerous crosses into the Tottenham box.
